Las Vegas must be one of the most exciting cities in the world and is probably the only place in the world where almost anything is possible. Up until the early 1990s, Las Vegas was renowned for being a 'fantasyland' for adults that existed for gambling only. During the 1990s, Vegas re-invented itself and now the theme hotels and theme park offers endless entertainment options other than gambling.

The Strip is where you will find most of the famous hotels and casinos. Many of these hotels are themed and are spectacular to see - particularly at night when they are lit up. The Mirage is probably one of the best and is surrounded by a fake volcano, which erupts every 30 minutes. Grand Slam Canyon is an amusement park, which is situated behind Circus Circus and not surprisingly attracts lots of families.

Just a few hours drive away from the hustle and bustle of The Strip is the magnificent Grand Canyon. Offering hiking, horse riding and rafting, it is sometimes hard to believe that such beautiful nature is only a few hours away from the lights and glitz of downtown Las Vegas. If you want to experience more of Las Vegas' breathtaking nature, head for Lake Mead and Hoover Dam.

Spring and fall are the best seasons to visit Las Vegas, as this is when the weather is most comfortable. Summers get hot and winters get cold. It is dry most of the time, but thunderstorms are not uncommon during the humid summer months.
