Riad Armelle is an upscale small luxury Riad lovingly restored by its French owners. It is located only few minutes walk from the famous square Jemaa El Fna and the fabulous souks of Marrakech where visitors can visit the sights and shop to their hearts delight before escaping back to their comfortable accommodation. The Riad Armelle is a small property consisting of rooms individually decorated to the highest of standards, from the intimate lighting to the sumptuous bed covers this is the perfect place for a relaxing break.
Riad Armelle and its history
Kharboucha, one of the most beautiful of women in Morocco, worked as a popular singer who was born and raised in Hasba near Safi. The region was ruled by the a powerful man by the name of Caid El Ayyadi who fell deeply in love with her in only one night. Little did he know that Karboucha was secretly engaged to his son. His constant invitations were continually returned and declined and then he discovered their secret. Both were exiled to the now Riad Armelle and then to punish her further Karboucha was sent to prison in 1922 for her supposed betrayal of a powerful man where she died of a broken heart. This story reminds us of the power of love and the choices this woman made to defend herself and her liberty.
Accommodation
Riad Arrmelle has five beautifully decorated rooms. The one standard room ?La Petite Chambre? is the only room with twin beds and is tiny but intimate and has a private shower room separated from the sleeping area by a curtain. The other 4 superior rooms all have double beds with showers in a partitioned area of the room ? 3 have private cubicle toilets and one rooms has a half wall partition only. In addition one of the superior rooms has its own Hammam (this is a payable extra if used) All rooms have safety boxes free of charge. The Riad has a ground floor and rooftop terrace that have been restored and decorated to the very highest of standards guests can take breakfast on either of the terraces and should guests require home cooked meals in the evening this can be arranged with the owners and paid locally along with soft drinks. Please note that smoking in the rooms is not allowed.

This property is beautifully restored and suited to couples of all ages looking for high quality accommodation. Riads are the total Morrocan experience and always situated within the walled medina with its souks and markets. The streets are winding and cobbled therefore the transfer vehicles will get as close as possible and some walking may be necessary. Riads are small properties and family run, the staff are there to offer assistance and advice along with our free resort representatives. The bonus of Riads is the ability to request specific Morrocan meals (in advance) which will be home cooked to order and taken either in a traditional salon or possibly on the rooftop terraces. Riads are peaceful havens and very contrasting to the hustle and bustle of the Medina areas and this Riad is suited to couples as all the four of the five rooms have double beds. All Riads contain steps or narrow stairwells and the medina pathways are normally uneven and may not suit customers with walking difficulties or mobility problems. It must be noted that Riads are not hotels ? they are private residences offering family atmosphere and hospitality!
